TwoMileHouse AGM  Report 2009

Once again we look back on the affairs and events of the past twelve months.

At the dawn of 2010 we were caught between memory & anticipation.  We looked back at past events and forward to a promise of better times.  The New Year inevitably engenders some optimism about improvement in 2010.

“Ask not for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee”.  John Donne (1571-1613) the English poet wrote these words.  They can be applied to last year’s championship.  The bells are tolling for many of the household football names familiar to us over the past decade.  For many of them this could well be their last hurrah!

Chairman – Paddy Casey thanked those who continue, often at great personal sacrifice, to give of their time and commitment to the efficient running of our cumman in particular.  He thanked his hard working colleagues on the executive, especially John Gibson for his work on Feile ’09.

Secretary – Derek Whytes excellent and comprehensive report went to great lengths to thank everybody involved in the promotion and running of our games.  Derek will strive to do the maximum amount of work in an efficient and effective manner as 2010 will be his fifth and final year as Runai of our club.

Cisteoir – Des Healy recorded with appreciation the gratitude of cumman Teach Dha Mhile to our faithful sponsors, fundraisers, Registrar Gus Collins and members for their continued valued support. Credit is due to Des for the healthy state of our finances.  He is without doubt one of the hardest working officials on the executive.  Go raibh maith agat Des.

We thank the local papers and KFM radio for their coverage of our games throughout the year.

We welcome Fr. Paul Dempsey to our club and parish.  Fr. Paul attended our AGM and prayed for our departed Gaels and those who are ill at this time and wished continued success to our club.

We thank Kilashee House Hotel for the use of the meeting room and facilities.

We urge all our members new and old and their friends to get involved with our special club draw – tickets are available from any committee member – see our website for more details and contact phone no’s – www.twomilehousegaa.com

Happy Birthday greetings to Robert Kennedy (30) and Andy Tynan (21)

Well done to Peter Kelly who played with UCD against Kildare last Sunday in the O’Byrne Cup.  Peter is one of Alan Barry’s main men in Kildare’s upcoming U21 football championship, not to mention our own clubs football team.
